Our History

Piltz, Williams, LaRosa & Company was first organized in 1937, as a branch of the New Orleans firm of Barton, Pilie’, Hughes & Jones. In 1962, on Barton, Pilie’, Hughes & Jones’ decision to merge with a national firm, acquisition of the branch was offered to Gerald Piltz and A.C. Simms. A partnership was formed on June 1, 1962, with the name of Piltz, Simms & Co. Upon A.C. Simms’ retirement on July 1, 1977, the partnership name was changed and Piltz, Williams, LaRosa & Company was born.

For 20 years our main office was located on Lameuse Street in Biloxi, Mississippi. Hurricane Katrina destroyed those offices and we made the difficult decision to move to higher ground. On May 21, 2009 we moved into our new office facilities located in the Biloxi Commerce Park at 1077 Tommy Munro Drive.

The firm is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA); the AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section, Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, Governmental Audit Quality Center, and is licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy. Professional standards and licensure regulations require that the firm subject itself to peer review every three years.
